WHY HIRE ME?

I'm Dom, a Montreal-based filmmaker, 7 years of experience in weddings, 10 in the industry. I specialize in capturing weddings and elopements on Super 8 film. I love documenting authentic moments of life that are special to you. I shoot weddings in a non-traditional style, kind of like an uncle with a camera in hand.

My approach combines candid, documentary storytelling with artfully directed portraiture. I direct with an easygoing, creative energy designed to make you feel completely at ease.

I work with 30+ year old cameras. AND I trust my cameras. I test them a bunch before shooting clients. I specialize in vintage camcorders such as VHS and Mini DV as well.

Someday your grandchildren will find it in a box. And they'll understand exactly how much you loved each other. The side goal is always to capture films timelessly as to leave viewers many years from now confused <3

What is your approach?

I go off of couples aesthetic style and sometimes even a song to get the feel of what you're looking for. We work together, no cookie cutter structure.

What is your turnaround time?

Fast. 2 -2 1/2 months

What are your rates & what does that include?

Rates include shoot, film, process, edit. Transport is to be covered seperately.

Videography includes shooting fully on film. The final edited films are uploaded to YT for you to view, and share along with a gallery of film stills and raw footage available via wetransfer.  Some raw digital footage can be provided separately.

Do you travel?

Do you do photo too?

Not really. For close friends yes, I have a really talented bestie who is my occasional co-wizard at weddings sometimes.

Why do you do this?

Short answer: I <3 love, one can clearly see haha.

Long answer: The couples connection is what drives those camera's motors, not me! There's something magical about capturing people's love days on film. Most of my past clients came to me with the same needs, wanting a video that is both timeless and truly authentic to themselves. I connect with the people, the setting, the party and make sure to flow with the day in a casual non-invasive way. I don't operate with a rule book. I love being challenged in new ways creatively, especially those revolving around LOVE.

How long should my video be

SO wedding films have evolved into shorter formats through the years but longer vlogs provide more day coverage and BTS. A full cinematic wedding film typically runs between 10 and 15 minutes — the ideal length to capture ALL of the special moments, including the key moments, highlights and atmosphere.

Many couples also prefer a short film format, sort of like a wedding trailer — A high-energy recap of the day running between 2 and 4 minutes. Usually edited to your special songs. This is perfect for sharing quickly with family and friends or posting on social media. And usually the SUPER 8 format.

Even if this option seems shorter than traditional long-form videos, they are customized to be emotionally rich, calculated and candid. I am still with you every step of the way, I shoot less but it doesn't necessarily mean you receive less content.

In the end, it's always up to the couple. Bigger weddings and events tend to go for the everything package, longer format, audio capture and etc. And smaller and intimate events, typically go for shorter formats, trailers and recap clips.
